It’s a new year, so you know what that means… The hottest color trends for 2023! But that’s not what this post is about. Almost every client asks our color consultants to predict the next hottest color. That’s understandable. No one wants to their freshly painted home to look dated within a year. At Lauro, we, of course, keep on top of trends so we can share new and exciting looks and avoid tired ones. But when it comes to color selection, our advice is to not lock into a specific color, instead, choose colors that reflects your own style and personality.
Every Fall, the paint companies come out with their “Color(s) of the Year.” Just do a search for “2023 paint color trends” and you’ll find them. The Pantone color of the year, for example, is Viva Magenta, a very bold pinkish red. Glidden’s color is Vining Ivy, an earthy blend of blue and green. And Dutch Boy had to make up their own word to describe their color, Rustic Griege, which is a blend of gray and beige. They are all widely different shades. Which one is right for you?
Research the color trends and visit your favorite home design web sites. Gather colors and use them as inspiration. Feel free to experiment and be bold if that represents the type of person (or family) you are. Let the colors reflect your uniqueness and personality. Are you more the laid-back type? Ground yourself with earthy tones and use accents with pops of color. Don’t really care about being trendy? Then choose light, pleasing colors that appeal to you. Follow the basic interior design principles and don’t worry specific colors. Instead, focus on creating a style that reveals your personality, not the whim of so-called experts looking to sell you paint.
If you are still uncertain about which colors reflect your style, hiring an interior designer or color consultant is well worth the investment. And remember, if you are hiring Lauro Painting to do your project, we include a free hour of color consultation, so take advantage. Feel free to contact and schedule a consultation with Lauro Painting.
