Low-Stress Kitchen Cabinet Refresh: Doors & Drawers
August 27, 2026It’s that time of year again! The major paint brands are rolling out their “Color of the Year” picks, and our clients want to know what our color consultants are recommending. We appreciate their trust, and we understand why homeowners like to keep their home looking fresh and up to date.
At Lauro Painting, we keep a close eye on these trends so we can share what’s new and exciting. When it comes to color authority, we lean heavily on Sherwin-Williams – their Colormix Forecast is one of the most trusted in the industry, and it’s usually the first place our own color consultants look each year. But our advice on choosing a color for your home hasn’t changed: don’t lock into a trend just because it’s trending. When it comes to choosing a color for your home, our advice hasn’t changed. Don’t lock into a trend just because it’s trending. Choose colors that reflect your own style and personality.
This Year’s Sherwin-Williams Trend
Sherwin-Williams just named Celery (SW 6421) as its 2027 Color of the Year — a light, fresh, yellow-green that stands apart from the deeper sage and olive tones other brands are leaning into this year. It’s calming without feeling muted, and versatile enough to pair with a wide range of palettes: soft neutrals for an airy, relaxed look, or deeper earthy tones like Artichoke or Georgian Bay blue for more contrast and depth.
For context, Sherwin-Williams’ 2026 pick was Universal Khaki (SW 6150), a warm, easygoing neutral. The move to Celery for 2027 marks a shift toward brighter,
more energizing greens – while staying within the same “livable, grounded” territory the brand has favored the last couple of years.
(We update this list each year as Sherwin-Williams announces its new pick – next update expected around this time next year.)
Your Home, Your Style
Trend colors are a great source of inspiration, but they shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Research the color of the year, browse your favorite design sites, and gather ideas. Then ask yourself what actually fits your home and how you live in it.
- Are you more laid-back? Ground the space with earthy tones and a few pops of color.
- Not worried about being trendy at all? Choose colors that simply feel calm and pleasing to you.
- Ready for an update that makes a statement? Add a dramatic color to a small feature and expand it to another space if you love it.
The goal is a home that reflects your personality, not whichever shade a paint brand is selling this year.
